STRENGTH TRAINING
Strength Training
I learned about the importance and benefits of Strength Training after I got diagnosed with early osteoporosis at the age of 40! I was shocked and very motivated to do whatever it takes to get out of that situation. That’s when I discovered Strength Training as a way to build and restore my bone density - and with that I not only got stronger but also more confident, more mobile without being in pain or getting injured all the time! After 2 years of consistent Strength Training I had (weight) lifted myself out of osteoporosis and pain - and I’m not planning to stop any time soon!
What I learned from my experience is that we need a variety of movement in our lives. My unbalanced movement practice was the problem. In the first 30+ years of my life my movement menu consisted of only dancing, Yoga and Pilates - so lots and lots of stretching and more stretching, with almost no resistance nor strength training. This went pretty well for a while, until I started to be plagued with nearly constant aches and pains and minor and serious injuries.

Who can do Strength Training?
Strength Training is crucial and beneficial for everyBody and you can start at any age - but the earlier the better! It isn't just for bodybuilders and weight lifters, it is actually a very accessible and highly customizable way to build strength, bone density as well as prevent, reverse or slow done osteoporosis and loss of muscle mass. And some fun side effects include increased self-confidence, better balance and more energy! In my sessions we will address your personal goals and needs, meeting you where you are and taking you where you want to go and beyond!
What do I need?
Strength Training can be done with very little equipment and space, especially at the beginning. It is highly customizable and adaptable to your specific needs and situation. Free weights (dumbbells and kettlebells) and resistance bands are a great way to start, no need for a gym or any fancy machines!
